Weld County leads Colorado in growth of homeownership, young residents

Recently released U.S. Census Bureau data shows Weld County as a state leader in growth of homeownership and the number of young residents. From 2000 to 2010, Weld County homeownership increased by 43% to reach 62,130 owner-occupied units. This was the second largest county increase in the state of Colorado. During the same time period, the county’s number of people age 15 or younger increased by 44% to reach a total of 63,055. That means as of 2010 the number of residents 15 or younger comprise 25% of the total county population.
Weld County City Highlights
- The percentage of owner-occupied homes in Severance increased 478% from 2000-2010.
- Firestone experienced a 436% increase in owner-occupied homes over the past decade.
- Greeley homeownership increased 17% from 2000-2010.
- The Greeley Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) is the seventh fastest-growing in the United States.
